Founded in 1961, WWF is the largest conservation organization in the world. Its main purpose is to protect endangered animals and their habitats.
3. World Health Organization ( WHO)
WHO is part of the United Nations. It promotes health matters worldwide, with the aim of improving medical care and monitoring disease.
4. UNICEF (UNICEF)
UNICEF was established in 1947. It works to improve the health and well-being of children and mothers in developing countries.
5. UNESCO ( UNESCO)
UNESCO was established in 1946. It encourages nations to unite on issues such as education, culture and science.
6. World Bank (World B)
This international financial institution was established in 1944 years dedicated to reducing poverty. It helps developing countries by providing loans.
7. World Trade Organization (WTO)
The Swiss-based WTO encourages international trade by creating trade agreements between countries. With 153 member countries, it accounts for more than 97 percent of global trade, and it disseminates international trade policy.
8. Group of Eight (G8 )
The Group of Eight consists of the world's leading industrial nations (Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, United Kingdom, United States and Russia). The G8 heads of state meet annually to discuss global issues such as world poverty and security.
9. United Nations (UN)
The United Nations was founded in 1945. Most countries in the world (191 in total) are members. The UN General Assembly makes decisions on peacekeeping and human rights issues.
10. NATO
NATO was founded in Washington in 1949. The foreign ministers of 10 countries have signed a defense pact promising to help each other in the event of an attack. 26 countries are now headquartered in Belgium.
